Guillermo Vargas Habacuc is a Costa Rican who claims to be artist. This past August he had an "exhibition" in a gallery of Managua (Nicaragua), where he took a street dog, tied it with a short leash to one of the walls of the gallery and let it die of hunger and thirst.
According to him, that act of cowardly sadism is art. Now this torturador has been invited to participate in 2008 in the prestigious Central American Biennial of Honduras. There is an international campaign to collect signatures to request that this invitation is rescinded.
You can sign the petition at www.petitiononline.com/13031953/ and please forward the message if you are so inclined. (the petition is in spanish, though where you sign is in english)
This is an actual photo from the "exhibition," where people drink cocktails and chat while the dog dies behind them.
