I've been spending more time outside and taking pictures. In a way I'm disappointed with the month, because I wanted to push myself to paint and do collage, things that are harder for me. Falling back to photography feels like a bit of a copout.
But on the other hand, I'm having so much fun taking pictures. It keeps my attention focused (sorry) on my surroundings and the moment. I'm going with what feels right.
One of the things I enjoy is looking for glimpses of the unusual, and in that vein, here are some mushrooms growing in a posthole:
The pond near my house:
For the last couple of weeks I've been eyeing the basketball hoop at the end of my street. The tree behind it is one of the best. It turns brilliant yellow in the fall, then orange. I've taken several pictures but none of them turned out quite right. I think I got close to what I wanted yesterday:
I should probably lighten it up a little, but I like the glow of the leaves and the hoop standing there quietly. For me it's a sign that summer is over.
