First thing I altered my canvas bin. Not like I have pics of what it looked like before I took the saw to it, but it was just really HUGE, and I wanted to make a compartment for some of my smaller works. so I hacked away at it and fixed it. I feel so very organized! It is almost to the point where it is scary! But I need to work in a very organized space, otherwise I tend to go a little batty. I like being able to find things on a whim, so I have compartments for everything, and usually label everything too. heh.
Here's a pic of my new bin! It's HUGE. Filling it with work reminded me just how much painting I actually did last year! Yikes!
So now that I actually can store all my paintings at least, I cleaned up the rest of my space. I got rid of a lot of old artwork and junk lying around, and swept everything. Sawdust. Everywhere. It makes me think of how you're suppose to clean the ritual circle before you start doing your magick, and instead of a chore felt very needed and symbolic to my practices. I'm trying to change my life. My working situation included.
So I worked on a few things yesterday, but only got pics of the 1 thing that looked like it changed the most. I was doing touch up work on a plein air I did a few weeks ago, and was going to post, until I accidentally smeared a lot of paint off of it :D I also varnished a bunch of miniatures so I can store them away finally.
I'm trying to revamp and rework older works that just didn't work out. This piece I'm posting almost made it into my exhibition in August, but here was something not just quite right about it and I was unhappy. I love the colours, and the composition, but was really unhappy with the fossil. I carved away at it using a linocut tool, and started to reshape it with molding paste. It takes a while to dry, so I left it alone for over the night.
Anyway. Today I'm going painting on a lake. Its still pretty warm here for October, so I think it will be really nice!
